The domaine

According to our archives and a plan dating the 20 December 1868, the Domaine already farmed 4 hectares of vines. However due to the phylloxera epidemic , the vines disappeared and by 1960 only 1 hectare remained.

In 1989, Daniel and Michel decided to give new life to the domaine and re-planted some vines.

Today we own 7.5 ha of vines planted to Sauvignon Pouilly Fumé and a little Chasselas Pouilly sur Loire situated in Mocques, a Commune of Saint Martin sur Nohain at the North of the appellation, on a slope of about 20 degrees facing west.

These parcels are planted on a bedrock of limestone-clay (kimméridgian) on which one can see flints, which help enhance the smoky flavour so sought-after in the appellation.

We also own 1.8 ha planted to Côteaux du Giennois, Pinot and Gamay. These varieties coexist on a terroir of terroir d'argile et de silex, bordered by the D33 to Saint Père

From the road from Cosne to Donzy, at the low point of the Domaine, next to the main house, one can just make out the Grange Pyramidal of Fontaine, a building typical of the Berry region, and in particular of the Cher-Nord district, but unique in the Nièvre department.
